OSH Student Internships

An integral part of the OSH program is a student internship. Internships provide the students a necessary opportunity to put their learning to work and integrate the subject areas they have been studying.  Internships are also a great opportunity for employers to receive some specialized assistance for a short period of time and to meet some prospective future employees.  You will find these students have a variety of work experience and certifications. Some already have advanced HS&E skills that they have acquired from previous work experience, or through the program.

Internships are generally a 3 credit hour commitment for students that require at least 150 hours of work experience. On a 15 week schedule, this translates in to about 10 hours a week, but during the summer many students are available full time. The students will also be completing additional work documenting their internship and achievement of learning objectives.   Internships are run cooperatively through the UAA Career Services Center and a OSH faculty member.  Internships are usually paid positions - but this is optional. Please contact Ky Holland or  UAA - Career Services Center for additional information.  The UAA - CSC link includes student and employer information and instructions.  These internships will be offered under the TECH 295 (pass/fail) or TECH 295A (graded) Technical Internship class heading. Instructor permission prior to registration is required.
